Altenberg launches initiative to save water

On the initiative of Mayor Michael Hammer together with Infrastructure Committee Chairman GV Philipp Scheibenreif and Infrastructure Committee member GV Ulrike Rabmer-Koller, a campaign to "save water and energy" was launched in Altenberg.

This has two objectives: Firstly, water consumption in public buildings is to be measured and hot water consumption in showers and washbasins is to be significantly reduced by installing reduction fittings.

Secondly, the population should also be invited to deal with the issue of saving water and to take measures in the private sector.

Measuring bags are available at the municipal office (citizen service), which you can pick up and use to measure the water consumption of your taps at home. In addition, information is provided on how to reduce water consumption by installing reduction taps. The purchase of these fittings is also subsidized and a discount is granted.

Saving hot water also means saving energy. After all, hot water production requires the most energy in the household after heating. The initiative shows that you can reduce hot water consumption by up to 50% without much effort and without changing your showering habits - which is not only good for the environment but also good for your wallet!
